Yes, but not for your trades. The Kalshi tax forms are Form 1099-INT for interest, 1099-MISC for credits and rewards, 1099-B for crypto transfers and 1099-DA through ZeroHash, each sent only if you cross an IRS reporting threshold. None of them reports the profit or loss on your event contracts. Kalshi's tax documents also include a profit-and-loss statement, but that figure is yours to report, so you build it from your own trade history.

Does Kalshi send a 1099 for your trades?

No. Kalshi's help center lists four tax forms and a statement (What Tax Documentation Does Kalshi Provide?, fetched October 7, 2026). Here is what each one covers, in Kalshi's words.

DocumentWhat Kalshi says it containsReports your contract profit or loss?

Form 1099-MISC"Credit/rewards from Kalshi"No
Form 1099-B"Transaction proceeds from broker transactions (crypto transfers)"No
Form 1099-DA"Digital asset transaction reporting from ZeroHash"No

The forms sit in the Account tab, on the Tax Info page. Some also arrive by email from Zenwork, the company Kalshi uses to deliver tax forms. If the page is empty, you most likely did not cross a reporting threshold for interest, credits or crypto activity. That says nothing about whether you made or lost money trading.

If no form reports your profit, what do you report?

All of it, from your own records. Income is taxable whether or not a form reports it: the tax code counts "all income from whatever source derived" (26 U.S.C. §61). A missing 1099 changes who computes the number, not whether it belongs on your return.

Kalshi's profit-and-loss statement is the obvious place to start, but check it before you rely on it. Kalshi says the figure uses first in, first out, includes fees and any rebates, and refreshes on the first morning of each month, so a mid-month look misses recent trades. Because it folds in rebates, check what is inside it before the figure goes on a return.

Where the figure lands depends on how you file. If you file under Section 1256, the instructions on Form 6781 say to "list separately each transaction for which you didn't receive a Form 1099-B or substitute statement", which for Kalshi trades means all of them. No IRS guidance or court ruling addresses whether event contracts are Section 1256 contracts, so that is one way to file, and the 60/40 rule explains the trade-off.

How to file Kalshi taxes walks through building the figure from Kalshi's export and API, including the positions still open on December 31 that the statement leaves out.

Questions people ask

Does Kalshi report my profits to the IRS?

Not on any form it sends you. Kalshi issues a 1099-INT for interest, a 1099-MISC for credits and rewards, a 1099-B for crypto transfers and a 1099-DA through ZeroHash. None of them reports the profit or loss on your event contracts, so that figure is yours to report.

Is the Kalshi 1099-B for my trades?

No. Kalshi describes its 1099-B as covering transaction proceeds from broker transactions, meaning crypto transfers. Contract trading is not on it.

Why didn't I get a 1099 from Kalshi?

Kalshi issues its forms only to users who cross an IRS reporting threshold, for interest, credits and rewards, or crypto activity. Most accounts that only trade contracts receive none. You still report your trading result.

Where do I find my Kalshi tax forms?

In the Account tab, on the Tax Info page. Some forms are also delivered electronically by Zenwork, the company Kalshi uses to send tax forms, so check your email for a message from them.
