How Realize was born
For years we’ve built products that help sports bettors and traders keep more of their own money. It’s the whole idea behind trylayup.com. Along the way we kept noticing the same thing: people were quietly losing money at tax time.
Prediction markets made it worse. The trades sit on a CFTC-regulated exchange, but the exports are raw and the tax treatment is unfamiliar, so most filers, and plenty of CPAs, leave real money on the table every April.
So we spoke with hundreds of bettors and traders. The pattern was hard to miss: for a lot of them a refund isn’t an abstraction. It’s rent, a flight home, a little breathing room. Getting money back just makes people’s lives better.
That’s why we built Realize. Connect your account read-only, and we turn years of raw trades into transparent, traceable tax figures. We don’t promise a magic number. We show the work, cite current federal precedent, and hand you and your advisor something you can review and stand behind.
