NovigTax forms

What does Novig send you at tax time? The 1099-MISC, and what it leaves out.

As of October 25, 2026, Novig’s Help Center describes a 1099-MISC for users whose calendar-year redemptions reach $2,000 with net redemptions above $0, sent in the first two weeks of February, and the Ludlow Member Agreement says Ludlow “will furnish IRS Form 1099 and other tax reporting documents” by January 31, naming no variant or threshold. The 1099-MISC reports net redemptions (redemptions minus purchases), not net trading profit. Novig has not published whether the 2026 form combines its sweepstakes period with exchange trades.

The 1099-MISC

Does Novig send a 1099? The Help Center’s 1099-MISC on net redemptions.

One form, keyed to redemptions rather than trading results.

Novig’s Tax Reporting article describes a 1099-MISC when calendar-year redemptions reach $2,000 and net redemptions exceed $0. It reports net redemptions (redemptions minus purchases), not net trading profit. Novig’s article calls this “the standard reporting method for sweepstakes platforms,” and Novig has not said whether the rule carries over to exchange trades after August 4, 2026.

The form itself is the one described in the IRS instructions for Form 1099-MISC. A figure built on redemptions carries no cost, proceeds or date for any single position.

The Ludlow Member Agreement (§5.10) says Ludlow “will furnish IRS Form 1099 and other tax reporting documents”; no variant or threshold named. Under §5.9.1, the member is “solely responsible for the payment of all taxes”. How the three common filing routes treat a year whose only form is this one is on Novig taxes.

Delivery

When does the Novig 1099 arrive? Two Novig documents give two dates.

The Help Center and the Member Agreement describe different timing and channels.

Help Center: “Forms are sent in the first two weeks of February for the prior tax year,” by email and physical mail. Member Agreement §5.9.2 and §5.10.2: forms available through the Member Portal or by email by January 31. Novig does not reconcile the two.

To view the form, Novig’s Tax Reporting article lists an identity check: the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number.

Trading history

Where do the rows of a Novig return come from?

From the trading history, not the 1099-MISC.

Novig’s Tax Reporting article points to a trading history statement requested through Live Chat. That statement, the account API and the request for sweepstakes-period data are compared on Novig trade history.

Sweepstakes period

Does the 2026 Novig form cover the time before August 4, 2026?

Novig ran a sweepstakes model until then, per its Help Center.

Novig’s article ties the form to the IRS reporting threshold. For payments made in 2026 that threshold is $2,000: the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (Pub. L. 119-21, §70433) raised it from $600 in IRC §6041(a) for payments made after December 31, 2025, so for 2025 payments it was $600. The change is in federal reporting law, not sweepstakes law, and income is taxable whether or not a form arrives. The statute as amended: IRC §6041.

Novig has not published whether the 2026 form combines the sweepstakes period with exchange activity after it, and its Tax Reporting article does not say. A 2026 year that spans both periods draws on both of Novig’s history sources, listed on Novig trade history.

Questions

Novig tax form questions.

Does Novig send a 1099?

As of October 25, 2026, Novig’s Help Center describes a 1099-MISC for users whose calendar-year redemptions reach $2,000 with net redemptions above $0, sent in the first two weeks of February, and the Ludlow Member Agreement says Ludlow “will furnish IRS Form 1099 and other tax reporting documents” by January 31, naming no variant or threshold.

What does the Novig 1099-MISC report?

Novig’s Help Center describes net redemptions (redemptions minus purchases), not net trading profit. Novig’s article calls this “the standard reporting method for sweepstakes platforms,” and Novig has not said whether the rule carries over to exchange trades after August 4, 2026.

When does Novig send tax forms?

Help Center: “Forms are sent in the first two weeks of February for the prior tax year,” by email and physical mail. Member Agreement §5.9.2 and §5.10.2: forms available through the Member Portal or by email by January 31. Novig does not reconcile the two.

Is the 1099-MISC enough to report Novig trades?

It carries no cost, proceeds or date for any position, so the rows a return lists come from the trading history instead. Every Novig history source, including the account API and the pre-August request, is covered on the Novig trade history page.

Why didn’t I get a Novig 1099 for 2026 when I would have in 2025?

Novig’s article ties the form to the IRS reporting threshold. For payments made in 2026 that threshold is $2,000: the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (Pub. L. 119-21, §70433) raised it from $600 in IRC §6041(a) for payments made after December 31, 2025, so for 2025 payments it was $600. The change is in federal reporting law, not sweepstakes law, and income is taxable whether or not a form arrives.

Does the 2026 Novig 1099 include the sweepstakes period?

Novig has not published whether the 2026 form combines the sweepstakes period with exchange activity after it. Its Tax Reporting article and the Member Agreement are both silent on it.
