Polymarket tax forms: what Polymarket US has published
As of October 22, 2026, one Polymarket US document names a tax form: its participant agreement, where customers consent to electronic delivery of tax forms, Form 1099-B included. Its documentation, risk disclosure and legal notices say nothing about tax, and it publishes no profit and loss statement. Below: each document, the data that stands in for a form, and where trades go on a return.

The agreement
What does the Polymarket US agreement say about tax forms?
One sentence names a form, and it is about delivery, not issuance.
The Polymarket US Individual Participant and Clearing Member Agreement (August 6, 2026) is the customer contract every Polymarket US account signs. Item 23 is the one passage in any Polymarket US document that names a tax form: “You consent to the electronic delivery of all tax forms, including, without limitation, IRS Form 1099-B.”
Read closely, that is a consent. It says a form would arrive electronically, and it does not say that one will be sent, above what amount, by what date, or what it would report. Elsewhere the same agreement disclaims tax advice altogether, and authorizes Polymarket US to deduct its fees from the account directly.
Polymarket US collects a Social Security Number at signup, and identity checks come before any deposit or trade. Whether that leads to a form for tax year 2026 is something Polymarket US has not addressed in writing.

The polymarket.com help center belongs to a separate product and is not in the table. Polymarket’s own documentation describes polymarket.com this way: Polymarket’s international, crypto-based product on a blockchain, separate from Polymarket US.
What that leaves unpublished, as of October 22, 2026: a reporting threshold, a delivery date, any form other than the 1099-B, and any statement of how Polymarket US event contracts are taxed. Where the year is reported without a form is below; how the same trades come out under each common route is on Polymarket taxes.
Without a form
With no form and no P&L statement, what is a Polymarket US year built from?
The account’s own trade data, which no Polymarket US document ties to a form.
The year is rebuilt from the activity API, the balance ledger and the CSV reports. Three things about them matter for a form. Fees are not on the activity API’s trades, so a rebuild that reads trades alone leaves them out. The ledger and CSV reports reach back only to May 1, 2026, so neither covers the start of the year. And 3 activity types are payments from the exchange rather than trades (TAKER_FEE_REBATE, REFERRAL_BONUS, LIQUIDITY_PROGRAM), which no Polymarket US document ties to a form.
Every source, its start date and its fields are on Polymarket trade history. The order to pull them in is on how to file Polymarket taxes.
On the return
Where do Polymarket US trades go on a return with no 1099-B?
Each common route has a place for trades no broker reported on a 1099-B.
There is no IRS guidance on how event contracts are taxed. Of the people we’ve seen file a Polymarket US year, three routes are the most common, and each has a line for unreported trades.
- For people filing under Section 1256, Form 6781 part I asks filers to list separately each transaction with no Form 1099-B behind it. A Polymarket US position open on December 31 goes there at its year-end price, which Polymarket US publishes only as a book-derived display price, not a trade. Form 6781 for event contracts walks through the lines.
- For people filing as standard capital, Form 8949 box C (short-term) and box F (long-term) are for sales not reported on a Form 1099-B. Prediction market capital gains covers the rows.
- For people reporting the year as gambling, winnings go on Schedule 1 and losses on Schedule A, for those who itemize.
Income counts whether or not a form reports it: the tax code reaches “all income from whatever source derived” (26 U.S.C. §61).
If a 1099-B arrives
If a Polymarket 1099-B does arrive, which boxes matter?
The agreement’s clause makes one possible. The IRS instructions say what such a form carries.
The IRS instructions for Form 1099-B have brokers report profit or loss on regulated futures and Section 1256 contracts in boxes 8 to 11, separately from the proceeds and basis of other sales in boxes 1a to 1e. Which boxes a Polymarket US form used would show how Polymarket US itself reported the contracts, something none of its documents says today.
- A figure in box 11 goes on Form 6781 line 1 for people filing under Section 1256.
- Sales in boxes 1a to 1e go on Form 8949 box A, B, D or E, depending on the holding period and whether basis was reported to the IRS.
- Either way the trade history is the check on the form. A Polymarket US trade has no fee field and its documentation does not say how a form would treat fees, so a difference between the two can be a fee question before it is anything else.
FAQ
Polymarket tax forms, answered.
What tax forms does Polymarket US send?
Polymarket US has not published a list. As of October 22, 2026, the one form any Polymarket US document names is Form 1099-B, in a participant agreement clause where customers consent to electronic delivery of tax forms. Its documentation does not mention a 1099, a W-9 or the IRS.
Will Polymarket US send a 1099-B for 2026?
Polymarket US has not said. The agreement’s clause covers how a form would be delivered, and sets no threshold, date or commitment to issue one. If one arrives, boxes 8 to 11 are where the IRS has brokers report profit or loss on regulated futures and Section 1256 contracts.
Does Polymarket US have a tax document or P&L download?
Not for retail accounts, per its documentation: the portfolio page shows cash, open positions and account value. The year is rebuilt from the activity API, the balance ledger download and the CSV reports, each with its own start date.
Do polymarket.com accounts get these documents?
No document on this page describes a polymarket.com account. polymarket.com is Polymarket’s international, crypto-based product, separate from Polymarket US, and the 1099-B clause sits in the Polymarket US participant agreement. Realize connects to Polymarket US only.
